Simple. It costs more to ship items to a smaller market, also, the stores have to buy in US dollars, which are worth about 8 cents more right now. If you buy the shoes from the States, you'll be spending just over $90 Canadian, then adding shipping, taxes, and duty (and taxes) to that. It *may* come in cheaper. The QST is (for 2013) 9.975% of the price of the object. The GST is 5%. Added, that is 14.975% ADDITIONAL cost for the shoes...which will bring your shoes to about $149.46.
