You should have shown up in court the first time.

They are required to file suit in the county/city where the accident occurred (jurisdictional issue). Talk to a lawyer is your best option at the moment. The SOL may have run out on this (but I don't know if the SOL is applicable here). The insurance company cannot suspend your license. Only the state can. But what the insurance company did was show to the state that you did not have insurance. Therefore, your license was suspended until the claim is settled.

Advice? Yeah. Instead of trying to find a way to NOT pay your judgment, How about using your time and effort to FIND a way to pay the judgment and get your license back. If you have money to hire a lawyer, why not forget such a foolish idea and instead use that to begin repaying? FYI. The lawsuit MUST be filed in the county where the accident occurred. "NO WAY" to show up for the hearing? There is always a way. You are in denial and as such are making yourself look absurd.

"My insurance didn't cover me because it did not kick in until the day after the accident." you mean you were driving without insurance. Your insurance didn't pay BECAUSE YOU HAD NO INSURANCE. "to make them work with me"? You have to be joking. They don't have to work with you. You're busted. Drive without insurance and you deserve everything you get. No sympathy here.
