It's going to depend a lot on where you're moving. Detroit, NY, etc have many Muslims, people are used to seeing hijab, etc. If you're moving to a small rural town where no one ever sees Muslims, it's going to be more difficult. Please SMILE. Even if you don't feel like smiling, SMILE at people. That's the thing I have noticed most about women in traditional dress, that perhaps it's not part of your cultures to smile or be friendly, but it's important in most parts of the US. Of course don't do something that isn't proper, but at least smile and be friendly as you walk through the halls. Remember that almost everyone gets bullied for something. People who are too fat, too tall, too short, bad skin, big nose--they are all getting comments. So don't feel you're the only one and get down.

Depends almost exclusively on your behavior, how you treat other people. People respond to those who show respect with respect - it is not something which can be demanded. You make the first move to show yourself to be well-mannered, respectful, honest, open, friendly, etc. Very, very few - if any - will be unkind, etc, if you make the effort to live consistently with American customs & values. Do be aware that refusal to "show one's face" is offensive to most people. It is a sign of deception, dishonesty in a culture which places a very high value on honesty & integrity. Cultural concepts of "face" vary in different regions of the world, but "face" is just as crucial in the US/North America as it is in East Asia. Muslims who are insensitive & refuse to adapt to local culture, customs, courtesies, etc, do offend a lot of people in a lot of countries, locales. On the other hand, if you "mind your manners," are respectful, polite, courteous, kind, caring, honest, people will like you immensely. Americans are probably among the friendliest & most generous people on the planet. Just part of the culture.
