Are you dependent or independent financial aid status? Here read this. aid-while-keeping-your-summer-job-the-fafsa-income-allowance / My daughter is still dependent and she goes a bit over the 6000 and does okay.

if you are a dependent student & your parents are living at/near poverty level... then maybe I know several independent students who are single & making much less that do not qualify for any pell grant funds you would still be eligible for federal student loans
