All you can do is apologize to your friend and tell them the truth. The REAL truth. Then, ask for their forgiveness. They may forgive you, they may not. The ball will be in their court now and you will have to allow them to make the call. If they were a true friend, after awhile they will realize that you made a mistake and give you the opportunity to be trusted again. If they decide to nor forgive you, then that is their choice and you will have to live with it, but you will be all the wiser for the next time. Please remember that the truth is always better. It may not be easier, but you now see what not telling the truth can do to others.
