As long as it got changed when it was supposed to its fine. Mixing them can cause problems. Just look at what color it is now and add the same stuff. If its orange its dex. If its green its regular. If you can't tell I would take it to a shop and have it flushed and refilled with what ever you prefer.

If you have Dexcool in there already you can use a Dexcool compatible coolant like Prestone's or go to the dealer and buy it at a higher price. Don't mix Green antifreeze with Orange/Red antifreeze.

The two features of coolants/antifreeze are one, the ability to cool the engine and two, their ability to resist corrosion. Cheap coolants don't have rust inhibitors, or enough rust inhibitors. My F-150 has 362k miles and for the past 12 to 14 years, I've used Dex in it. I changed over when I replaced the radiator and it's been fine. I replaced the water pump last was ONLY about 20 years old!
