Keep your deck to 40 cards Don't have weak cards in your deck just because they're your favourites or they're "Cute" Update your deck regularly For the best result use 10 spells 10 Traps and 20 Monsters Don't cram monsters into your deck or they will have no strategy and nothing to work with the others Never have nothing in your Extra Deck, you never know what could turn the whole duel around A side deck can turn your whole duel around Believe in the heart of the cards Don't be frustrated at your deck, because at the end of the day; if your angry at it it's never going to work; Capisce? Hope i helped

Yugioh is a very complicated game. If you want to learn how to play, buy a starter deck. In there, there is an instruction booklet that will tell you all the rules of playing yugioh. Here is an example of a rulebook Rlbk_lores.pdf Hope this helps. Eventually you will be a master of yugioh. If you want to make your own custom deck, try to keep the deck to about 40-42 cards. That way, you maximize your draws in getting cards you want. For a starter, use 10 spells and 10 traps and about 20 monsters. As you improve you will change the combinations. also keep your extra deck to a maximum of 15, That is the limit so you cannot have any more than that. Different decks will have different cards needed so pick one archtype and get started. These are archetypes in case you didnt know. Pick one and build your deck based on that.

Every deck should contain at least 40 cards and at most 60 cards. You don't want to have too many of them because you won't be able to draw a needed card in the right moment, so stick to 40 cards. It is advised to have 17 monsters, 13 spells and 10 trap cards. Buy a starter deck that has more Normal monsters or monsters with simple effects. I advise you to buy an archetype deck( a deck that has cards which have a same name or that mention that name in their effects, example is darkworld, laval, infernity, gishki, etc.). Since you are a beginner, try not using extra deck in first few days, until you get a hold of the game, then you can add some xyz monsters for start. Also make a side deck that contains 15 cards which, if you play 2 out of 3 match, will help you with your strategies. Don't put too many level 5 or higher monsters in your main deck unless they have a special ability with which you can Special Summon them (example: Cyber dragon). Hope this helps, good luck and after you learn the basics go on dueling network, it will help you hone your skills.
