Spray adhesive - 3M, but obviously you have to have it on hand. Glue stick - applying a section at a time and smoothing the lining paper over it.

Decoupage. Water down some white glue and paint it on to the wrapping paper. Stick it on and then add a layer of the glue solution over top. If you use a couple layers of tissue paper (doesn't matter if it crinkles) then do a blackwash over it when it is dry it will look like leather.
