The PS3 can't use external drives or USB devices for game storage. You can replace the built-in 12 GB with any 2.5" SATA laptop hard drive, up to 1 TB and possibly larger.

No need to buy a new one, upgrading is easy! There are tons of YouTube videos on this. The only thing you need to know prior to upgrading your HD on a PS3 Super Slim, is that you’ll need to buy a mounting bracket for your new hard drive. You can pick one up on eBay for around $5.
