Bad contact or bad cable. It could be the input in the guitar as well. Try pulling the cable out and in about 10 times to see if it helps. Maybe take your guitar and cable to a guitar center or music store and see if they can fix it for you. May just need to solider something. Also try the 10 time thing with the cable going into the amp.

Bad connection in the cord to the guitar. Either take it apart and fix it or take it to the repair shop to have a professional do the work.
