Line the floor with craft paper or news paper. Before you pour the top "paint" the edges including the under hang. Let it drip, as it is setting up Use a thinner on a brush and clean up the drippings as it sets up from the under hang. It sounds messy and a lot of work. The finished product is worth it

It is better to be safe than sorry. So, you can try placing clean disposable paper on the floor. Once you are done with the task, dispose off the papers.
