Whether an equipment is an automation for tax purpose depends on whether it is found in the Income Tax (Automation Equipment) Rules 2004. This list will be updated and expanded, & released in June 2010. Looking through the list, an equipment is an automation if it can operate on its own, without the help of a human (except to switch it on)
