Don't wait to discuss this with both--speak to your manager first and tell her in detail about the project, expressing your concerns. Explain that the other task was given to you as a higher priority and then be honest in stating that you don't feel that you can handle all of it at the same time.

Go to the person in authority and give them a list of what you are working on and tell them that you need to have them give you the priority for what tasks that need to be completed and that anything at the bottom of the list will likely not be completed.
