Just a thought but possibly the new hub isn't compatible.

That makes no sense at all. If it did the it all of the time, I'd say the brake is dragging. The only thing that could cause what you are describing, is that the left wheel is being driven and the right isn't. But if the right wheel isn't engaging, there'd be no power transferred to the left either. The only thing I can think of, is that some how the differential got jammed and is powering the left wheel and not the right. But I can't imagine how that could happen either. The one other possibility, if you have a limited slip differential in the front axle (rare, but some do. my 79 bronco was so equipped), is that the right lock out hub is not engaging.
