A-->B-->C--D-->0 If you have a linked list the last node will have a null pointer, unless you want to make your list circular.

Null pointer is used in linked list at the very last position to specify the end of linked list. If you are going to make a circular list the the pointer would point to the first node of the list that is not considered as a null pointer. Null pointer point to the base of any segment.
