Change the cell to a custom cell rather than a accounting or percentage or number. This should be at the top of the page in home tab but otherwise right click on the cell and customise.

That is the way Excel works, unfortunately. You can change the formatting to TEXT and it will be recognized as text. You can then work with the long number as text but if you try to work with it as a number, it becomes rounded again. ----- ----- ----- I bought "xlPrecision" that allows you to use up to 1500 digits. The price was very cheap: $15. Google it. (There is a free version that gets progressively more difficult to use so you will buy the paid version.) "xlPrecision" also eliminates binary conversion errors such as: =1*(0.5-0.4-0.1) Returns: -2.77556E-17 in Excel instead of the correct answer of zero.

Set the cell's number format to Text, and *re-enter your number*. This will treat the entry as a string of digits, not a long number (one exceeding Excel's capabilities). To Excel, these are two very different things. Simply changing the format doesn't change the value stored, which was altered when you first entered it. You need to re-enter the value. Alternatively, you can type an apostrophe in front of the digits, which forces the value to be interpreted as text. "General" format is a numeric format, and is not the Text format you need. If by chance you actually do need to perform math calculations on a number with so many significant digits, you probably would need xlPrecision or a more capable program.
