It is probably an alternator - (both guys were right) but most cars have built in regulators in the alternator) But make sure the battery cables are clean and tight first and the drive belt is tight before throwing parts at it. Changing the alternator isn't horrible but you will probably need get the front end of the car up pretty high to get to it from below. A replacement (rebuilt) can be purchased for around $100 usd if you do some search (autopartswarehouse etal). New ford alt is probably closer to 250 (just the part)
