Do your basics at a Community College is a great first start, although I would recommend doing the full two years, or even longer to get all your basic studies in plus a little more for your own growth. Most community college professors are willing to spend more time with their students than what you will find at a four year college where professors are more interested in their own research and projects. Also, community college prices are often a bargain compared to a 4 year college, and once you graduate with a BS/BA, no one will care where you did your first two years.
