You need good credit & good income to get a car loan. Or a very strong cosigner. (Not a 21 year old)

Your credit rating determines the amount you are able to borrow, and the interest rate. How much you pay per month, how many payments, stuff like that, is not affected, just how much you can borrow. If you have a co-signer with a much better credit rating, then you're using his or her credit rating and you can get a better deal, but if you don't pay they go after the co-signer.
