Speaking english is practically a prerequisite now in the metropolitan region of Montréal. This means that --unless you've got a good grasp of the English language-- you won't be hired in fast food joints. And pretty much every employee will be able to respond to you in english. Besides, half of the city (mostly West half) is Anglophone. Your parents will have no problem at all.
