ETF's have very direct and very specific investment, while mutual funds could have some bonds or cash in their mix which in 2013 didn't earn anything. Stick with a mix of ETF's or a Vanguard INdex fund

super risky. Remember a security that goes up 153% in a year (bib) can go down the same or more. Look at stats of what happened to techs and biotechs after 1999. However, there are tons of etfs to choose and some that are much more designed for moderate growth rather than aggressive growth.
