I am a former chef, and live in downtown Toronto, Spadina and Bloor St W area, our prices are comparable to other Canadian cities, coffee can vary as it goes on sale, but normally $5, milk $2.59 a L, bread cheap $1.99 good stuff $3, frozen fries 99 cents to $2.99, frozen pizza $3, box of cereal cheap bag $1.99 or boxed $4-7, tobacco I do not know, around $10 for a pack of smokes I am told, fast food places like McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Harvey's, Pizza Pizza, and a chicken chain called Swiss Chalet a decent meal is anywhere between $5-10, ask I travelled to Europe and worked in Asia as a chef there portions are moderately bigger, not alot, we tend to be more European than American in many ways.
