Not telling you what to do, but if my car was a quart low and all I could buy was 10w40, I would put it in and not worry. If I got a great deal on a case of 10w40, I would probably put a quart of low viscosity full synthetic in with each oil change. I have an older car with a gas engine.

Did u drain 5w30 oil out n put 10w40 if that is wat u mean no u won't, 10w40 usually for older cars but if u mixed them together then it MAY mess up ur engine but just drain it out n put new oil, u b fine, remember having low oil or no oil ls worse then mixing oil.
