  • Can a Chinook Helicopter?

No way. A cal 50 BMG cartridge weights 117 gram; a million of them would amount to 117 metric tonnes. The Chinook maximum weight is 22680 kg, that is 22.68 metric tonne. Half a million rounds would still weight twice as much as the total maximum weight of the helicopter.

1 million rounds, not including belts or canisters would weigh approximately 250,000 pounds. The answer is NO. The useful load of a Chinook is only about 25,000 pounds, out of which one must subtract the weight of fuel, crewman, equipment and ammunition. Even with modern polymer casings, a million rounds of ammunition would still weigh a bit over 125,000 pounds, again, not including belts and canisters. Basic math, mate. Learn it.
