probably not much. and they were very lucky to even survive to get that money.

As from 1 June 1942,a newly enlisted GI private got $50 a month.There were increments depending on length of service,a thirty year veteran getting $75 a month.There was 10% extra for serving overseas. A newly enlisted German private got the equivalent of $12 a month.
