Yes. You can ride British Airways and change planes onece in Britain, depending on the date.

I'm not really sure about u.s arlines, but the cheapest way I have found to travel back and forth is to take a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt Germany, and a Austrian Air flight into Austria. Another option is to fly to the UK which may be cheaper for you, and then to book with Ryan air, which is the cheapest airlines i have ever seen, and fly into Linz, I do not think they offer flights to anywhere in Austria other then Linz.
