To really lose weight, you have to combine a healthy diet plan with some form of exercise. It is extremely difficult to lose weight purely on a diet alone. Not only is the effect slow, it is extremely difficult to stick to the regime unless you have a very strong will power. If the diet does not work out after some time, most people will have the tendency to give up and revert back to the unhealthy style of eating. However, it is OK to binge once in a while, provided you do some form of exercise to compensate. A one-time binge like this is not going to make you fat straight away. My advice to lose weight is as follows: 1. Start on a healthy diet. Reduce the fats and sugar intake. You do not have to totally cut them. You still can indulge in some of these foods once in a while. It will make you happier. What's the point of going on a diet and making yourself feel miserable? Instead you could plan some milestones for yourself and reward yourself when you cross the milestone. For example, you could try to stay away from ice-cream for 2 weeks, and if you succeed, you could reward yourself with one scope. Things like will keep you motivated and make you look forward to your next milestone. 2. Next, you have to ensure that you get regular exercise. If you haven't been exercising, try something simple, like walking, slow jogs, hiking. Even climbing staircases can be an exercise.Choose activities that you enjoy. Try to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. When you are getting better, you should increase the intensity or duration of the exercise. 3. Get enough sleep. Very important. People who stay up late at night tend to snack a lot and this si the culprit for gaining weight. 4. Drink plenty of water. 5. Lastly, keep a cheerful mind. No point going through life miserable with whatever you have.

One day won't do much. You will maybe gain a pound or two but if ts a one off it won't be noticeable. Just don't do it again!!
